For my photo journal, I am going to focus on sexual objectification in advertising. Many companies whether it is a small one or a big one, use sexual objectification in their advertising. It mostly takes advantage of women but sometimes men too. Sexual objectification is the act of treating a person as a an instrument of sexual pleasure rather than a person with a personality and feelings. I am going to focus on this for my photo journal because I am learning about it in my human sexualities class and it is very interesting. Hopefully by the time I am done with my photo journal, I will make an impact on others. It is important for people to look past the ads and look at the bigger picture.
