The danger of silence, especially in controversial issues allowing conflicts to fester and get further and further from being resolved, is a reoccurring theme in life that is very present in this south park episode. The whole idea behind this was parents trying to control their children, and to bring them away from an immature show and toilet humor. But when a mature topic, Physician Assisted Suicide was brought up, not even the adults would touch on it. The boys approached 3 different individuals, Mr. Garrison who acts as an intellectual guide, Chef who expresses ethics and is a voice of reason and is known to always take the boys seriously even when no one else does, and Jesus who clearly is a higher power and moral guide. Even the officer caught them trying to kill the grandpa and he even turned a blind eye. In society today, and in the past humans tend to ignore issues that are directly in front of them. Many major topics such as abortion, politics, capital punishment, and physician assisted suicide, are thought of as topics to ignore. However, if we ignore them, they will never be resolved. Attempts to find common ground is a key to being content. This issue is present throughout politics and throughout daily lives of individuals everywhere. A specific example of a text that this can be found in is To Kill A Mockingbird. In this novel, they ignore the matter of segregation even though it is right in front of them. This makes matters get worse before allowing them to get better.
