Blog 5 REVISED

A theme I wanted to focus on from the Last Dictator was power. Chaplin was expressing that at he didn't want to be a dictator and that he didn't feel he was comfortable taking over people's life and ruling. I heard that Hitler didn't want to be a dictator and actually wanted to be a priest but he was pressured by his father to get involved with the government instead. I kind of felt like Chaplins words were words that Hitler wanted to say but didn't. It makes me wonder what would have happened if Hitler had not let himself agree to what his father wanted and rather what he wanted. Hitler was a very powerful man and even today his legacy lives on, even though it is a bad legacy. His power was known far and wide and it even traveled through time. It definitely shows he had great power.
This image above shows how power and those who have it can take advantage of others. Our country was young and they barely started the governement when Thomas Jefferson was alive and he knew that he British were corrupt with them. He hoped for a new country that could avoid this but he also knew that a successful government is a strong government. Even today, we see that the president does not have ultimate power even thought it can be seen that he is the image of ultimate power. They have congress and the senate, and hey stop a lot of things that presidents want to pass as laws. Sometimes the control of power is good, sometimes it's not.
