In this South Park episode, the main theme I saw was ignorance. The parents want what is best for their children so that they may become intelligent and mature adults. The problem that is exhibited in this episode has the children of South Park being entertained by what the parents like to call "toilet humor". The parents then decide to make a trip to New York to resolve the issue, but completely ignore the problems that their children are facing currently. For instance, Stan is faced with the problem of being pressured by his grandfather to assist him in suicide. Everyone that Stan tried to talk to had ignored him and had busied themselves with other issues that weren't relevant to the issue at hand. Even the grandfather was ignorant of the pressure he was building upon his grandson. The ignorance shown through the adult figures has caused the main theme of the episode. Another example that is similar to this particular episode is Finding Nemo. People who love you deeply often seek to protect you above all else. But when this protection becomes extreme, it can become toxic and ultimately harmful. While Marlin (Nemo's father) had a lot of responsibilities as a single parent, the initial problem with his relationship with Nemo is that it its severely one-sided. But in the end they were able to resolve their problems with talking and trusting one another.
