Blog 6- Revised

In South Park there were various themes seen however, the theme that stood out the most was the danger of silence. Silence is not seen as a major problem at times, however it might become one in the long run. For example, those who are lost in the voidance of depression. At times people seek help, in other cases they do not. But as it was seen in South Park, at times the individual(s) are not comfortable enough to seek help from their parents or parent figures due to them being neglected at all times. It is very important for parents to communicate and have a good relationship with their children to prevent the danger of silence. Like see in South Park, instead of the parents sitting down and talking to their children, they decided to riot in order to shut down the TV show. The children in the end concluded that their parents were too busy trying to shut down the TV show, instead of sitting down with them and addressing the issues presented. The danger of silence does not only pertain to children as seen in South Park, it is a danger to everyone who decided to stay silent. For example, According to CNN, the great actor and comedian Robin Williams committed suicide on August 11, 2014. Robin Williams was sober when he committed suicide, however, he had been struggling with depression, anxiety, and early stage of Parkinson’s disease. Robin Williams committed suicide by hanging himself, his wife believes he learned the suicide technique from a movie role in which a character he portrayed died from autoerotic asphyxiation. Maybe if Robin Williams would have seek help he wouldn’t have committed suicide. Rest In Peace, Robin Williams.
