Blog 5 REVISED
I would like to relate the Great Dictator movie clip to the theme of humanity being more important than technology. I think this is an issue that we still have today, with cell phones and computers and TV. People do not talk face to face anymore, they choose to text or email or talk on the phone. I think this is a great problem for this generation because there is a lot that people will say online or over text that they would never say in person. This can lead to cyber-bullying, which can then lead to depression and even suicide. It is very interesting to me how this was an issue back when this movie was made, and it has escalated with present times, and no one has tried to make any changes. I think something that relates to this issue would be the cell phone commercial that comes on before a movie at the theater. It states that there is a time and place to use your phone, and the movie theater is not one of them. The fact that movie theaters have to play this commercial really shows how addicted Americans are to technology and cell phones if they can't even go two hours without checking facebook or replying to a text. This is a more modern version of the Great Dictator's message of technology taking over humanity.
