A present day issue that is related to Chaplin's speech is equality and tolerance.  Society in the present day has advanced in trying to establish equal rights to every person, but people are still not going to give up their dominance over others.  There are a good amount of people in today's time who believe that they have power over others because of their race, ethnicity, religious backgrounds, etc.  I believe it is a dominance issue that people have inherited from their ancestors who grew up in a time of equality only being practiced by the whites.  In the current day, there have been many provisions and expectations have risen to a level that each and every person should be treated with the same respect.  People should have advanced by now but there is still many issues and problems with equality among the people.  There is a song called 'One Day' by Matisyahu which really brings out the emotions in people not being treated the same way as others.  Matisyahu is a equal rights activist and this song really depicts how he says that one day, people will be able to come together and fight no more.  It might be tough and there will be obstacles but if you can get passed that, then one day people will be able to respect each other and be friends.
