In the Southpark episode there were many themes represented by some dark satire, much like all Southpark episodes. In my opinion the primary theme was the way some parents choose to treat children and the elderly. None of the adults in the episode seemed to care at all what the children had to say and they believed them to be immature, because of what they chose to watch on television. Every time stan tried to bring up his grandfather wanting to commit suicide the adults decided to completely ignore them which is incredibly hypocritical. Not only did they ignore the children, but they ignored his grandpa too because, "he didn't know what he was talking about". Hypocrisy is another huge theme in the episode. As the parent were trying to rid the television of bathroom humor they were engaging in it themselves. Also, it was the destruction of the bathroom that caused the show with bathroom humor to be cancelled so that is quite ironic. The parents really didn't do anything by killing themselves like the ignorant parents they were the entire episode. The overall theme in my opinion was that parents should be able to talk to their children about what is going on in the world around them. If they want them to be more mature, they should listen to them and not ignore their every want and desire. Controlling their lives only leads them to a dark path like the children stated in the end. "Well now what should we do? My uncle said crack was fun". My point exactly.
