Blog #6

Many themes were present in the South Park episode, "Death", but the one that stood out to me was the parents avoiding controversial conversations with their children. Whether the topic is assisted suicide like in the show or other medical topics or even social issues parents often avoid these topics and shelter their children. Many parents feel as though their children are too young for certain topics and try to protect them. This can do more harm than good leaving the child with unanswered questions which could lead to them asking their friends who may not really know anything on the topic leading to them being misinformed. If the child is old enough to ask the question, aren't they old enough to know the answer? They are going to find out the answers to questions such as assisted suicide but shouldn't it come from family? From people they trust?
