In the South Park episode shown in class a few themes came up. One of these is parenting and the neglect to discuss certain issues with a child. Another issue was assisted suicide. The grandpa wanted to be killed, yet the parents neglected to talk to the kids about that issue when questioned. Today neglect to educate children on certain issues is still a common problem. Often people feel their children are not old enough to discuss certain things, and in turn the child has to learn for themselves. Parents need to be more open with their children and make it clear to them what is right and wrong when it comes to big issues like assisted suicide. Assisted suicide has also been a huge debate because it comes to question if it is ethically wrong to kill someone when they want to be killed. In 2013 Vermont joined Oregon and Washington as states with the "Death with Dignity Act". These states allow people who are terminally ill and suffering to be given medication that quickens death.
This comic is shown supporting assisted suicide. The woman on the right supports it, while the man on the left does not support the "needless suffering" of not allowing death for those who are terminally ill. This ties in with the theme of assisted suicide on South Park.
