The main points shown in the videos in class had to do with gender roles. Gender roles have been dominant in our society's history. Boys were brought up to be the protectors, the providers, the person in charge, and to hide their emotions. Guys ask the girls out; guys pay for the date. There are too many double standards to even list today. And while gender roles have come a long way, they still exist today. Everyone has probably heard "It'll make him into a man" and "don't be girl, just do it" in their lifetime. These are very prominent in people growing up, trying to fit the mold that is deemed acceptable. A couple weeks ago, a girl mma fighter was beating every girl she fought. However, instead of being respected, a man said that she should fight a man mma fighter and see what happens. This is just one example of gender roles today. Girl usually aren't supposed to be fighters, they are supposed to be vulnerable and guys are supposed to come in and fight and save they day.
