My group had V for Vendetta and the primary theme was easily corruption in large societies.  During the speech V tells the people that he knows they have been shadowed by fear, however it is their fault for giving into the system.   In the movie the people just accept that their lives are being run in a Big Brother sort of way.  Everything they say or do is censored and monitored and so is every other aspect of their lives.  This is a perfect example of a dystopian society where higher up government officials have gone mad with power.  They are trying to control every aspect of the peoples lives and finally V is saying something about it.  He wants the people to stand up for their rights and fight back.  The theme of corruption goes along with another theme of conformity.  The people just simply accepted that they were living in a dystopian society.  It took a man in a mask to open their eyes to the world around them, when they should have done it on their own from the very beginning.
