My group did V for Vendetta in class and the main theme in this speech was the corruption in a dystopian society. The government is controlling all the people and they have no freedom. In the video, V is trying to get the citizens attention by telling them to nstand up for themselves and don't let the goventment do whatever they want. This an issue in North Korea right now. The North Korean people are brainwashed into obeying and worshipping the supreme leader. Horrible punishments happen to family members of anyone who breaks the law.
The book 1984 is similar to this. "Big Brother" is an all controlling governmental figure who is very ambiguis. People have factions and groups and half of them were meaningless. People were vaporized and they also controled how you thought. There was a crime called thought crime where they could take you if you thought a wrong thought. There was one character who was like V and tried to stand up and investigate the government's actions.
