Today in class we analyzed three different texts thats related to corruption. The group that I was in picked apart the Calvin and Hobbes Science Fiction strip. We believed that the main theme of this strip was blind obedience. The aliens came to earth and stole all of necessities for survival simply because it was their job to do so. We directly related this concept to many things present in society such as war, colonization, and lastly government.
I believe that way too many people listen to higher power, especially within the government of our great nation, simply because they don’t have power, and don’t want to be punished.
A text that we see the idea of blind obedience in is The Hunger Games. Each and every district is forced to provide the capitol with good and services, while they can hardly provide for themselves. Individuals blindly abide to the unfair laws and regulations even as their loved ones are dyeing off. People in each district were dyeing of starvation, disease, and of course, the Hunger Games. All of these causes of death are either directly placed on them by the capitol, or could be stopped by the capitol, yet nothing happens until Katniss accidentally breaks the chain of blind obedience and resists them.
