In the movie V for Vendetta the speech that is given is suppose to make people realize how corrupt  of a society that they live in. At the same time V does not blame the government rather he blames the people for letting the government control everything about their life simply because they are scared. A good book that goes along the same theme as V for Vendetta is Nineteen Eighty Four and its idea of Big Brother. In Nineteen Eighty Four everything that you do is monitored by the government which is commonly referred to as big brother.  They say it is for protection but in reality the super rich use it to exploit the the rest of the population. A current event that also relates to this topic is the NSA program that is used to monitor United States citizens. It was put into place after 9/11 after there was much fear among citizens and has been in place ever since. While it is extremely unpopular and there have been some whistle blowers the program shows no signs of being shut down.
