A theme I saw in class through out the videos was the control of the people and what they do. A current issue that was bought to my mind with these videos was the issue in China where the government only allows couples to have one kid. They are only permitted to have more than one kid if their first born has a disability or if it's a girl. It is crazy to me to think how the government is so controlling even to the point of making a law limiting people how many kids they have. Along these lines the book Among the Hidden by Margaret Haddix also portrays a alternate world where a government controls how many kids a couple can have. It talks about the struggles of a "third kid", they were only allowed to have to kids, and being hidden from the law or else the third child would be killed.
