I feel like every
commercial or advertisement has either everyone in it too happy or a celebrity that
does not even use the product. For
example, in the Old Navy Christmas commercial, the little children are so happy
and overjoyed to be receiving hats and scarfs.
Seriously, I do not know about you, but I do not know any children that
would be excited to receive clothes for Christmas. When I received clothes for Christmas, as a
child, I threw it to the side and definitely did not jump up and down with excitement! Another example, are the L’Oreal commercial
when they advertise their makeup and hair dye.
I am positive that Jennifer Lopez does not use their makeup and Gwen
Stafani does not dye her hair with box dye.
Do the advertisers really expect us to believe that these celebrities
would use products that you can buy at places like Target and CVS. It is so obvious that they do not use these
products that it is annoying. Both of
these examples make me not want to shop at that store or not buy that product. Instead of the commercial’s intended purpose,
to attract customers, they are actually turning people away.
The kind of
commercial or advertisements that attract me are the simple ones, which are
straight to the point, truthful, and not over exaggerated.
I definitely agree with you. Most of the time the media portrays the impossible for the common people just like you said. It is sort of like selling a lie to the consumers.
