The media knows how to use visuals to sell something or to get an agenda across to an audience. Visual media such as advertisements on television often play off of our desire for something. I, like many other people, love food. Whenever I see a commercial showing food that looks delicious, even if I am not hungry, the ad makes me want to eat what they are selling. They use visuals and close ups of food to try and get the viewer's taste buds going. Even driving down the road there are signs for places to eat that often show a yummy piece of food on the sign to make people want to eat there. They use these visuals to push us to go spend our money with them, and oftentimes it works on me. An advertisement for Mcdonald's would be much less alluring if they didn't put an image up trying to make their food look as good as possible. They draw us in by putting up good looking food. I would be much less inclined to go somewhere if their advertisement showed a messy or moldy meal that did not look good to eat. Instead the advertisement uses the perfect angle and even photoshop to make us want to eat what we are seeing.
