Blog 1
Previous to this class, I have taken other courses that entailed the affects on society from visual image. I am not the type of girl that likes to divulge in the temptations of the daily gossip and drama that the media provides society in place of the daily routine we are forced to wake up to every morning. The images we see on the television or in a magazine not only change the way we think, but it changes the way we look at ourselves in the mirror and say: "I'm not good enough." Visual images produced from society most likely distort the way the human mind views themselves and those around them. That does not mean all visual images we are exposed to on a daily basis have a negative effect, though. Some can inspire and motivate a person to reach their optimal goal. That is what I like to see from the visual media, something that exemplifies our humanity with pride. I like seeing a soldier that comes home to his wife and kids or a cancer patient that receives a medical miracle. These are the things that make me want to better myself as a person and allows me to have a more positive outlook on life not just for myself, but for others too.
