Color, the human eye can differentiate thousands of shades of different colors. We as humans also like to personify and give colors symbolism. Thus to us these colors have meaning and evoke different emotions. An example that is stereotypical in Advertisement is for boys and girls toys. Anything that is pink is automatically assumed to be for girls and anything blue for boys. But besides having just those two meanings pink and blue can have other meanings that advertisers will also use such as, Pink representing love, compassion or romance while blue can also symbolize sadness and depression. Advertisers will also use bright colors to draw ones eye, oranges, reds yellows, all draw the eye in and basically force you to look at the advertisement. The use of contrasting or complementary colors is big too. All these colors are used to form images that are suppose to evoke a response out of us and advertisers use that knowledge to coax us in to buying their product.
